I believe the reference photo for this painting was taken around 2006. We sold our house in Southern California and drove to Washington. We went up I 395 which is a beautiful drive. Much nice than the dismal drive up I5.
I was born in California, and lived the majority of my life there. Jim was born in Ohio and moved to California when he was about 9 or 10. We got tired of the traffic, crowds and smog. We went back once to get stuff out of storage, and haven’t been back.
Sometimes, I think I would like to take a road trip there and visit with family and friends. And see if the beach is still there. But now, I’m in no real mood for a trip.
